- Strategic Initiatives, at Amazon Saudi Arabia said: “As a technology evangelist and advocate for emerging structural changes such as blockchain and sustainability, Mira joined Amazon to design and deliver strategic projects that accelerate Amazon’s support towards goals outlined under Vision 2030.” “The opportunity to play a role in supporting one of the world’s largest e-commerce companies in Saudi Arabia was very exciting for me. It has made me feel like I am contributing to my country’s future. Even though the industry is considered unconventional for women, I haven’t felt that at Amazon Saudi. “I see so many women taking up different types of jobs within Amazon, from technology and analytics to delivery and supply chain roles. The company offers a wide variety of jobs, from entry-level to expert positions. I have always felt that I am on a level playing field at Amazon where men and women alike have equal opportunities to contribute and explore their full potential. “A diverse workforce means a diversity of opinions, points of view, cultural backgrounds, and experiences that all help us deliver better, faster, and more reliable services to customers. At Amazon, we truly value these varying perspectives as it enables us to better innovate on their behalf. The time is right and the opportunities are many for Saudi women to balance the gender scale in this unconventional field.” Dana AlShahrani, Last Mile Shift Manager at Amazon Saudi Arabia Dana has a degree in law, but decided to make the pivot to operations. Joining the Amazon team as an Operations Supervisor, she was promoted to Site Manager within the same year. “As the first woman leader of a delivery station in Saudi Arabia, I can testify to the culture at Amazon Saudi and how it empowers every individual, irrespective of gender, race, or background, to learn, grow, and advance their careers. A sincere dedication to customer satisfaction drives everything we do, and this singular focus helps us fine-tune our processes and methods to deliver what matters most to our customers. “We are constantly innovating newer, safer, and more effective ways of fulfilling the customer promise. Diversity fuels quicker problem solving, and inclusion ensures every employee can bring their genuine self to work, share their perspective openly, and contribute to solutions during critical moments. Allowing this all to unfold on a daily basis is the key to unlocking our teams’ full potential. “Logistics is a dynamic field where you can put both your physical and mental abilities to work. Given that women across the world remain a minority within it, I feel a responsibility to encourage others to venture into this field and be the change they want to see.” Dalya Alshingiti, Senior Human Resources Business Partner, Amazon Saudi Arabia With over 7 years of experience across various multinational organizations in HR roles, Dalya moved to Amazon Saudi in December of 2020, and found herself as one of two women on site at a Fulfillment Centre at the time. “When I started my journey at Amazon Saudi, almost all of my colleagues were men. I did not see this as a challenge, but as an opportunity to work hard, collaborate and earn trust. My role as an HR business partner means that I’m in charge of ensuring the associate experience at our sites stays true to our culture and ethos. What I’ve found at Amazon is that the culture truly pushes you to identify your unique strengths and build on them to carve a career path for yourself. “The company invests a lot in training and development and employees are encouraged to try different roles and broaden their scopes. Personally, Amazon’s programs combined with its focus on innovation and ‘Day One’ culture has enriched me more than my cumulative experience before I joined Amazon. It really has been a thrilling ride so far, and I can’t wait to expand my potential. My advice to women seeking an unconventional career path is to join an organization that has the right culture where you can work hard, have fun and make history!”
