The 23rd of March is commemorated by Pakistanis all around the world as the national day of Pakistan. It was on this day 83 years ago, in the year 1940, that the historic Lahore Resolution was adopted during the annual session of the All-India Muslim League. This resolution, which today we know as the Pakistan Resolution, was instrumental in laying the groundwork for achieving a separate homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent. On this auspicious occasion, I would like to extend my deepest felicitations to all Pakistanis residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Today, it is imperative for us to remind our young generation of the struggle and efforts of our founding fathers. It is necessary for us to inform our children about the challenges faced by our forefathers in living their everyday lives in a colonized homeland. Today, we are blessed to live in an independent country where we are free to live our lives according to our own beliefs. While we all take pride in our great history, we must work tirelessly toward strengthening our country to overcome the challenges faced by us today. Since the creation of Pakistan in 1947, we have overcome great obstacles. Our people have thrived against all odds. Together, we have overcome wars, famines, disasters and security challenges. By the grace of the Almighty, Pakistanis all around the globe are respected for their hard work, dedication and exceptional work ethic. Our scientists, engineers, doctors, academics, lawyers, masons and technicians have made a name for themselves in the world. Pakistanis living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have contributed to the progress and development of both brotherly countries. I am confident that our citizens will continue to play a constructive role in the Kingdom’s efforts for realization of Vision 2030. Pakistan today is focused on strengthening its ties with all friendly nations on the basis of economic cooperation and sustainable development. I am grateful to the leadership, government and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their constant love and support to my people and my country. Long live Pakistan and Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Friendship. Ameer Khurram Rathore is Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia
