Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah affirmed that the new government, which was sworn in on Monday, must deal with “essential issues and numerous files that require utmost attention.” He called on government members to cooperate in achieving security and eliminating corruption. The Kuwaiti Crown Prince had received Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, and members of his government at Bayan Palace on Monday morning so that they could perform the constitutional oath following their appointment. On Sunday, a royal decree was issued to form a new government headed by Sheikh Ahmed. The new government held its first meeting on Monday evening. It affirmed its commitment to implementing the ruling of the Constitutional Court to invalidate the 2022 National Assembly. It is noteworthy that this is the third government formed in the past eight months as Kuwait has been experiencing a sharp political crisis. The new Cabinet was announced three months after the previous government resigned over political disputes with the National Assembly that was scrapped by the constitutional court in a landmark ruling on March 19. The ruling also reinstated the old National Assembly, headed by Marzouq al-Ghanim, to finish its mandate. The Kuwaiti government had resigned last January following a crisis with the National Assembly. The government did not witness any changes in the ministers assigned to the key portfolios, such as oil and foreign affairs, but it included the appointment of a new finance minister, and changes that resulted in the departure of six ministers. Realizing Kuwait's development objectives and the people's dreams should be on the scope of the new government, which must do its utmost to achieve these ultimate goals, said the Crown Prince. While receiving the members of the new government, the Crown Prince delivered a speech, affirming Kuwait's highest interests should be on the minds of all Kuwaitis including the cabinet members.
