For some of us, Tupperware parties hold a special kind of nostalgia. They were a time when sales representatives flung plastic containers across a room to prove the strength of the patented “burping” seal, party-goers would leave with storage products stacked high in the backseats of their cars and the more containers party hosts sold, the more kitchen gadgets they would gather in their cabinets. But the days of Tupperware – and the accompanying parties – may be about to end. Shares in the Massachusetts firm, which became famous in the 1950s and 1960s, crashed by almost 50% this week after it told investors there was “substantial doubt about the company’s ability to continue as a going concern”. With a potential emotional farewell looming, we want to hear your Tupperware-adjacent stories. What wild memories were made at your plastic-container-centred gatherings? What concoctions have you kept safe with the famous “burping” seal? Which container will you protect with your life and why? How much have you spent investing in Tupperware kitchen gadgets and storage? We want to hear them all!
