South Korean nationals evacuated from Sudan arrive in Jeddah

South Korea"s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Park Joon-yong received on Monday the Korean diplomats and residents who were evacuated from Sudan to Jeddah. The ambassador arrived at King Abdullah Air Base to receive the Korean nationals, who came by airplane carrying 29 passengers. The evacuated included the Korean ambassador to Sudan Namgung Hwan, Korean diplomats and citizens. This comes within the framework of Saudi-Korean cooperation. On behalf of the president of South Korea, the Ambassador thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman for the support and effort they made in receiving them and helping to evacuate Korean nationals from Sudan. Footage showed the arrival of Korean citizens to Jeddah on Monday afternoon at King Abdullah Air Base, including children and the elderly. Upon their arrival, their health was checked first. They then will be transported directly via a Korean plane to South Korea. It is noteworthy that in implementation of the directives of Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman, the Foreign Ministry announced that the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) carried out the operation that evacuated Saudi citizens, other nationals, diplomats and international officials from Sudan on Saturday by sea on 5 Saudi ships. The Ministry said: “66 persons from Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Egypt, Tunisia, Pakistan, India, Bulgaria, Bulgaria, Philippines, Canada, and Burkina Faso were among the evacuated.” The number of evacuated Saudi citizens were 91 persons. These operations come after two weeks of fighting between two factions of the country’s military leadership, where more than 400 people have been killed in Sudan.
