RIYADH: General supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, on Monday met the charge d’affairs of the South Sudan Embassy in Saudi Arabia, ambassador Khamis Hagar. During their meeting in Riyadh, they discussed cooperation and coordination on humanitarian and relief issues. In separate talks, KSrelief assistant general supervisor for operations and programs, Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, met the UN resident coordinator in the Kingdom, Dr. Rita Columbia, at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh. They reviewed ongoing aid projects and ways to support vulnerable groups around the world. Columbia thanked the Saudi government for the important role it played in providing the necessary assistance and facilities required for UN humanitarian organizations to carry out their work. She also praised KSrelief for its project work around the world. Since its establishment in May 2015, the center has implemented 2,374 projects worth more than $6.2 billion in 91 countries in cooperation with 175 local, regional, and international partners. According to a recent KSrelief report, the main beneficiaries from its projects have been Yemen ($4.2 billion), Palestine ($370 million), Syria ($367 million), and Somalia ($232 million).
