Saudi Arabia’s Education Ministry has announced the completion of preparing more than 200 sports halls in the public girls’ schools. The Ministry said that its target is to equip and establish more than 740 halls to practice women’s sports. This comes within the “Enhancing sport participation for girls’ students in schools” initiative, which aims to spread the importance for practicing sport for girls at an early age and to shape their life in a healthy way. The initiative also aims in strengthening linking education, at all school levels, with development plans, in a way that supports Saudi Arabia’s efforts in empowering women. The Ministry seeks to continue in implementing the initiative within 3 axes, which are: the physical and skill performance, which aim in developing students physical and skillful abilities, and how they deal with it. The second axis is about the healthy lifestyle, which would introduce the girls with the healthy nutrition and its controls. As for the third axis, it will be regarding the personal and social fitness, through which, it will enhance the behaviors that lead to the collective personal success of girls’ students in sports activity. The initiative contributes to achieving the goals of the Quality of Life Program, which is among the priorities of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The Ministry of Education has already begun to include physical education within the curricula of girls’ education, in order to contribute in enhancing the general concept of physical activity and sports among female students.
