The Dhu Al-Hijjah crescent moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, so that Monday, June 19, marks the beginning of the month. This means Arafat Day will be on Tuesday, June 27, and Eid Al-Adha will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 28. Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court announced on Sunday that tomorrow, Monday 1/12/1444 AH — according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar —- corresponding to the 19th of June, 2023, AD, will be the beginning of the Dhul-Hijjah month. Pilgrims will flock at the beginning of Monday, June 26, to Mina holy site to spend the day of Tarwiyah (water provision) in pursuit of the Prophetic Sunnah, in preparation to stand in the Arafat holy site, on Tuesday, June 27, which marks the climax of the annual pilgrimage of Hajj. The Supreme Court had earlier called on all Muslims throughout Saudi Arabia to look out at sunset on Sunday for the crescent moon, which will mark the advent of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijja and end of the current month of Dhul-Qada on the 29th.
