The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has thwarted three separate attempts to smuggle more than 539,000 Captagon pills into the Kingdom. The pills were found hidden in three vehicles that arrived through the Hadithah dry port on the Jordanian border. ZATCA stated that in the first attempt, the culprits tried to smuggle 187,200 Captagon pills hidden in multiple parts of the vehicle. In the second case, the authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle 210,400 Captagon pills, after hiding them inside the radiator of a trailer truck. In the third attempt, 142,200 Captagon pills were found hidden inside the tires of one of the vehicles. The Authority reiterated that it will continue to tighten customs control over imports and exports through all customs outlets and will confront any smuggling attempts to ensure the security and protection of society from all criminal acts. The Authority called on everyone to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by reaching out to the designated number for security reports (1910) or via (e-mail: 1910@zatca.gov.sa) or the international number (00966114208417). The authority, through these channels, receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the unified customs system in strict confidentiality, with a financial reward to the whistleblower if the information turns out to be correct. — SPA
