The first edition of the Saudi Film Confex will kick off in Riyadh next October, the Saudi Film Commission (SFC) announced. The Saudi Film Confex, which the Film Commission intends to launch in the first of October, until the 4th of the month, will took place in the Exhibitions hall of Boulevard Riyadh City. This initiative is targeting the most prominent filmmakers, producers, directors, investors, in addition to the different global media, which comes within the aim of reviewing reality and future of filmmaking in Saudi Arabia. SFC’s CEO Eng. Abdullah Al-Eyaf said that this Confex is considered as an important achievement for the film industry. It will provide a platform for all of the effective global and regional parties in the field of filmmaking to communicate with each other. It will also represent the basis for creativity and innovation of new technology in the film industry. “We are looking forward to seeing the impact of this pioneer event on the development of filmmaking in Saudi Arabia,” he said. It is worth mentioning that the Saudi Film Confex is representing a platform that brings together the main pillars and relevant agencies, in order to enhance filmmaking, with the participation of more than 100 people, about 50 speakers. This is in addition to the participation of several agencies that will showcase their services, as well as the most important innovation and the modern technologies. It will also highlight its importance on the national economies through 3 main axes, which are the industry trends, the international practices, the challenges and opportunities in the film industry. The first of its kind Saudi Film Confex, that will be held in an area estimated at 40,000 square meters, will include special areas that are designed to host workshops for the 3 days of the event. The workshops will include practical training sessions by specialists in the field, in order to highlight different topics, the most prominent of which is the Inspiration Zone where a number of top creators will participate there to share their journey and the basic trends of the industry. Moreover, there will also be an Innovation Zone that is dedicated to showcasing the latest technologies and new product concepts, in addition to destinations exhibition that will display the most prominent shooting location in Saudi Arabia. The talented and those interested in filmmaking will also have the opportunity to unleash their ideas and imaginations in the interactive activities zone. There will also be an experience zone that will provide the visitors the latest development and trends in the film industry. This is in addition to a business zone, in which it will be witnessing the signing of the agreements, as well as to hold the diverse meetings and partnerships. The Saudi Film Confex comes in line with the efforts led by the Saudi Film Commission (SFC) with the aim of highlighting the growing economic role in filmmaking in Saudi Arabia. It will also contribute in attracting filmmakers and global producers to strengthen the exchange of experiences with their Saudi counterparts, with the aim of developing the film industry in Saudi Arabia.
