Saudi delegation led by investment minister Khalid Al-Falih concludes visit to Latin America

RIYADH: A Saudi delegation comprised of top government officials, national companies and private sector representatives led by investment minister Khalid Al-Falih have concluded their tour of Latin America. The high-level official tour of seven Latin American nations between July 31 and August 9 was an extension of earlier investment ministry-led visits to a number of Caribbean and Latin and South American countries ‘with the aim of building bridges of communication’,  state news agency SPA reported. During the delegation’s Brazil swing, Al-Falih said that green energy and food security were two of the main sectors in which Saudi Arabia was interested in investing in the country. Al-Falih, who spoke duirng the Brazil-Saudi Arabia Investment Forum, also cited the financial, automotive, agricultural, transport and logistics, infrastructure, ecotourism and entertainment sectors as other areas of interest. In Argentina, the investment minister met with foreign minister Santiago Cafiero where they discussed cooperation and joint business initiatives. They also signed two agreements, one concerning the promotion of direct investments, and the other on geological cooperation. In Chile, the Saudi delegation engaged with local counterparts to explore and amplify mutual financing possibilities and an agreement was signed to boost cooperation between both parties to facilitate direct investments.
