Saudi minister receives grand mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina

MAKKAH: Saudi Islamic Minister Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Asheikh met Husein Kavazovic, the grand mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and his delegation in Makkah on Saturday. The holy city will hold an international Islamic conference on Sunday that will be attended by about 150 leading Islamic scholars, muftis, religious leaders and thinkers from 85 countries. Heads of Islamic associations and sheikhdoms, as well as academics from a number of international universities, will also take part in the two-day event. Al-Asheikh welcomed Kavazovic and his delegation, and said that the conference aims to strengthen communication and integration links between the departments of religious affairs, fatwas and sheikhdoms across the world. The forum will promote the principles of moderation, as well as the values of tolerance and coexistence between people, and highlight their role in adhering to the Qur’an and the Sunnah, he said. Al-Asheikh said that it also aims to serve Islam and Muslims, promote Islamic unity among Muslims, combat extremism and protect societies from atheism. Kavazovic expressed his gratitude for the Saudi leadership’s support for Bosnia and Herzegovina and its people. The conference is sending a message to the world regarding Saudi efforts to serve Islam and Muslims, and promote the values of moderation.
