Kemar Roofe scored the opening goal in a 2-0 Premiership win for Rangers at Ross County. Roofe, starting for the first time in 16 months, repaid the faith of the Rangers manager, Michael Beale, after 22 minutes with a close-range strike. James Tavernier added a delightful second four minutes later with a smart finish to secure the three points. The relatively comfortable victory was a boost for Ranfers for their important Champions League play-off match against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday. Celtic and St Johnstone shared a goalless draw at Celtic Park. Two superb second-half saves by Joe Hart from Dara Costelloe and substitute Stevie May denied the Saints earning victory. His opposite number, Dimitar Mitov celebrated his first call-up to the Bulgaria squad by producing three saves from Matt O’Riley. But Celtic generally struggled to test the keeper in a flat display and managed five shots on target. The draw leaves Celtic a point ahead of Rangers in the league, but a second below-par performance in a row after their League Cup defeat at Kilmarnock last Sunday did little for their confidence for their trip to Ibrox next Sunday. Injury-hit Motherwell displayed their tenacious attributes as they recovered from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory against Kilmarnock at Fir Park. Harry Paton slammed home in the seventh minute of stoppage time to complete a superb comeback for the hosts. Marley Watkins headed past Liam Kelly to give Killie the lead after 12 minutes, but the visitors passed up a number of clear opportunities to extend their advantage in the first half. Motherwell were much improved after the interval and deservedly got back on level terms when Dan Casey struck after 59 minutes. With 15 minutes remaining, Motherwell’s Callum Slattery had his spot-kick saved. It was Paton that was to be the hero for the home side when he calmly finished from a Blair Spittal assist. Livingston secured a deserved 3-2 win against Hibs at Easter Road. The visitors broke the deadlock courtesy as the unfortunate Jordan Obita got the final touch to turn the ball into his own net. Martin Boyle restored parity for Hibs with a stunning solo goal early in the second half but Bruce Anderson restored Livi’s lead with a header a minute later. Another Livingston substitute, Mo Sangare, heaped further misery on Hibs as he thundered home a spectacular third for the visitors. Josh Campbell pulled one back with four minutes remaining as Hibs threatened to draw level but it was not to be and they fell to a third straight defeat in the Premiership to increase the heat on the Hibs manager, Lee Johnson.
