Gulf state has provided victims with 121 tons of relief goods Libyan Presidential Council declares disaster in cities of Derna, Shahat and Al-Bayda Benghazi: Two more aircraft of the Qatari Air Bridge for flood victims in east Libya arrived on Thursday at Benina International Airport in Benghazi, Qatar News Agency reported. Bringing the total Qatari aid up to 121 tons with two planes having arrived earlier, the third and fourth planes carried 54 tons of humanitarian and relief aid as an emergency response to the humanitarian situation. The planes were loaded with food, relief material and medical equipment provided by the Permanent Committee for Rescue, Relief and Humanitarian Aid. Qatar has affirmed its full solidarity with Libya following the flooding, highlighting its preparedness to provide emergency relief. Shortly after the Libyan Presidential Council declared the cities of Derna, Shahat and Al-Bayda disaster zones, several Arab nations and Turkiye offered aid and deployed rescue teams to help survivors and find missing people. On Thursday, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman directed the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to provide aid to flood victims in Libya. Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed military personnel to provide humanitarian aid, including relief teams, rescue equipment and shelter camps. Meanwhile, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan ordered the dispatch of urgent relief and search and rescue teams, deploying two aid planes carrying 150 tons of food, relief and medical supplies. A Kuwaiti flight arrived on Wednesday with 40 tons of supplies, while Jordan sent a military plane loaded with food parcels, tents, blankets and mattresses. Meanwhile, Turkiye sent a ship carrying equipment to set up two field hospitals with 148 medical staff after the catastrophic flooding that left thousands dead. Turkiye also sent three aircraft to transport humanitarian aid and an 11-member medical team on Tuesday.
