In a speech delivered on Thursday during the general debate on agenda item 80 addressing crimes against humanity, part of the legal committee"s proceedings in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Kingdom underscored its repeated warnings about the humanitarian consequences of the conflict for the region and reaffirmed its steadfast stance in support of the Palestinian cause to ensure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. Saudi Arabia denounced all crimes against humanity that threaten international peace and security, expressing its support for international efforts to achieve justice and uphold the rule of law. The Kingdom stressed the importance of unifying the terminology used in the draft provisions related to crimes against humanity and their prosecution. It called for careful consideration of issues related to the draft provisions, given the international community"s division on the principle of universal jurisdiction and its practices, aiming to reach consensus among nations. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia reiterated its commitment to achieving international justice and peace by establishing legal frameworks that align with the United Nations Charter and its objectives.
