The Royal Greens Golf & Country Club played host to an impressive display of skill as Australian golfer Marc Leishman, representing Ripper GC, emerged as the frontrunner after the first round of the LIV Golf Jeddah presented by ROSHN. Braving challenging windy conditions, Leishman carded a flawless five-under-par 65, claiming a one-shot lead in the tournament. Leishman faces stiff competition from elite golfers in close pursuit, including Dustin Johnson (4Aces GC), Harold Varner III (RangeGoats GC), and Brooks Koepka (Smash GC), all trailing by just one stroke at four-under par. Leading season points accumulators, Cameron Smith (Ripper GC) and Talor Gooch (RangeGoats GC), faced a more challenging start with an even-par (70) in the opening round. Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau (Crushers GC) positioned himself well with a one-under-par (69), ensuring a competitive field vying for the individual championship title on Sunday. In the team standings, Ripper GC and Crushers GC jointly hold the lead at six-under par, maintaining a slim one-shot advantage over Fireballs GC and the season-points leaders 4Aces GC. The stage is set for a thrilling competition as golfers gear up for the upcoming rounds, aiming to secure victory in the prestigious LIV Golf Jeddah tournament.
