Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has urged Switzerland to use its position as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council to push for a ceasefire in Gaza. The prince made his appeal during a phone call with his Swiss counterpart Ignazio Cassis to discuss the latest developments in the Israel-Hamas war, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Prince Faisal pointed out the need to protect civilians and called for both parties in the conflict to abide by international humanitarian law. He noted that the UN Security Council had a responsibility to maintain international peace and security and reiterated the need to stop military operations in Gaza and lift the siege on civilians. During the phone conversation, the prince also called for a just and comprehensive solution to the situation that would “achieve the aspirations of the Palestinians.”
