The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources (MIM) has announced the launch of the Future Factories Program" website, which aims to link factories with service providers. The ministry started with entities that passed SIRI evaluation, as the Future Factories Program follows the Smart Industries Readiness Index (SIRI) methodology, which was adopted by Saudi Arabia and approved by the World Economic Forum to assess the digital maturity of factories. This comes to enable the transformation of 4,000 factories to adopt operational efficiency and automation, and apply advanced industrial solutions and practices. The program aims to develop the industrial sector in Saudi Arabia through 2 tracks, to ensure that factories achieve the second level in the SIRI assessment. The first track targets new factories, so that it can be designed according to operational excellence and modern manufacturing practices The second track targets existing factories to be converted into advanced factories. The program’s website, which is available in Arabic and English, aims to enable national factories to obtain a comprehensive view of the transformation process by presenting an overview of the SIRI assessment, its levels, dimensions, and axes. The site also provides knowledge guides to raise awareness of modern manufacturing tools, methodologies and practices. The ministry launched the Future Factories Program with several goals, including increasing factories’ adoption of international best practices in the fields of the 4th Industrial Revolution, cutting down production costs, and reducing reliance on unskilled labor. It also aims to increase the competitiveness and operational efficiency of existing and new factories in all industrial sectors, with a focus on strategic sectors.
