South Korean first lady Kim Keon Hee participated in planting a tree in Riyadh to mark the 61st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and South Korea. The tree-planting ceremony took place at the Scientific Park in Riyadh, organized by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, on the sidelines of the visit of the South Korean president to Saudi Arabia. She was welcomed to the Park by Riyadh Mayor Prince Faisal Bin Ayyaf and Abdulaziz Al-Muqbel, executive director of the Riyadh Green Program at the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. An overview of the Riyadh Green Program was presented, highlighting its impact on the quality of life and the environment in the city. The presentation also touched upon the significant growth and promising opportunities in Riyadh, along with the ambitious projects underway as part of the Kingdom"s Vision 2030. The Riyadh Green Program is one of the major projects launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, initiated by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman. The program aims to plant over 7.5 million trees in Riyadh, increase green cover to 9% of the city"s area, raise the per capita green space from 1.7 square meters to 28 square meters, equivalent to 16 times the current level. Furthermore, it seeks to enhance the urban environment in Riyadh by greening residential neighborhoods. The Riyadh Green Program is a crucial contributor to achieving the goals of Saudi Arabia"s Green Initiative and the Vision 2030 objectives. The initiative aims to plant 10 billion trees within the Kingdom in the coming decades.
