Bush fires have continued to spread across Queensland and New South Wales, threatening towns in both states. Residents were forced to evacuate in parts of Queensland as authorities recorded more than 200 blazes. Cameron Herbert, the acting head of Queensland emergency services, said: "It"s not a fire that you can put out, we can"t actually extinguish it but we just need to control it."
