Saudi Arabia has actively contributed to global discussions on the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the recently concluded AI Safety Summit 2023 in the United Kingdom. Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, the President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), participated in discussions with prominent technology, science, and AI ministers, as well as high-ranking officials involved in shaping international collaboration on AI. Key meetings during the event included discussions with the UK Secretary of State for Science, Innovation, and Technology Michelle Donelan, and the Dutch Minister for Digitalization, Alexandra van Huffelen. The summit served as a significant platform, bringing together government officials, leading AI companies, civil-society groups, and experts for the first-ever global gathering of its kind. Its primary goal was to establish a common understanding of the risks associated with AI, laying the groundwork for international cooperation and outlining necessary measures for its safe deployment. Saudi Arabia"s commitment to active participation in global AI dialogues is evident, underscored by its recent inclusion in the UN Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board. This commitment ensures that AI benefits everyone, and SDAIA continues to play a crucial role in spearheading the safe and ethical deployment of AI in the Kingdom, while advocating for a standardized international approach to ethical AI governance.
