تتجه أنظار عشاق الألعاب إلى حفل The Game Awards 2023، حيث أعلن جيف كيلي، مقدم الحفل، رسميا عن قائمة الترشيحات، على أن يقام الحفل في 7 ديسمبر المقبل. وعلى رأس القائمة، تألقت لعبتا Alan Wake 2 وBaldur's Gate 3 بتحقيق ثمانية ترشيحات لكل منهما، وذلك في فئات متعددة تشمل أفضل لعبة وأفضل إخراج وأفضل قصة والمزيد من الجوائز. وتعتبر هذه الترشيحات بمثابة بداية لمنافسة شرسة على جائزة أفضل لعبة لهذا العام. كما تواجدت لعبة Marvel's Spider-Man 2 بسبعة ترشيحات، منها ترشيح لجائزة أفضل لعبة، فيما حازت لعبة The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom خمسة ترشيحات، في حين نالت لعبة Super Mario Bros.
