Initiative will fund the education of 14 Palestinian children at the Marifah International School LONDON: Lebanese-Malaysian TikTok star Sabrina Bahsoon, who is also known as “Tube Girl,” has established an education fund to support Palestinian children. For the latest updates, follow us on Instagram @arabnews.lifestyle The initiative will fund the education of 14 Palestinian children at the Marifah International School in Seri Kembangan in Malaysia. Bahsoon, who has nearly 800,000 TikTok followers, partnered with advocacy group Geutanyoe Malaysia to assist Palestinian refugees who fled Gaza and the West Bank to travel to Malaysia. Geutanyoe Malaysia thanked the social media sensation “for her generous support through the Sabrina Bahsoon’s Fund for Palestinian Children’s Education.” It added: “This contribution not only nurtures young minds but also serves as a safe haven for them in a context of protracted displacement. Together, this coordinated effort strengthens our resolve to empower the Palestinian community through education.” Bahsoon faced criticism in November for a video in which she announced that she was selling T-shirts in collaboration with the UK charity Choose Love to raise funds to help people trapped in Gaza, and displaced communities in southern Israel. Social media users pointed out that Bahsoon did not say “Palestine” in the video, and that her T-shirt referenced the unrelated TikTok trend “delulu is the solulu,” which means staying positive to find solutions. They also said that the video was posted the night before Black Friday, despite calls by pro-Palestinian activists to boycott the sale to put pressure on world governments to call for a ceasefire.
