RIYADH: The efficient use of digital technology for archiving and document storage will be the subject of a three-day conference to be staged, next year, in Riyadh. The Archives in the Digital Age forum will be hosted by the Saudi National Center for Archives and Records from Feb. 16 to 18, 2025, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Delegates will discuss the opportunities and challenges in working toward effective digital transformation in government institutions and agencies. The center’s director general, Faisal Al-Tamimi, noted that the conference’s objectives included identifying global best practices in digital archiving, exploring their use by relevant institutions, and reviewing the experience of Saudi government agencies and other countries. He pointed out that attendees would also be looking at the role of archives in building knowledge, showcasing digital transformation initiatives, and securing access to information. The conference, Al-Tamimi said, would focus on topics such as archives, big data, cloud computing, cybersecurity, AI apps, and archival practices, while targeting government archivists, specialists in various sectors, computer experts, cybersecurity and data management professionals, and faculty members and students from Saudi, Gulf, and Arab universities.
