After a resounding defeat at the hands of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders two days ago, the Warriors turn the tables on them to move up to 4th place in the table Before their game on Wednesday, Sharjah Warriors were bottom of the six-team International League T20 table with just six points and an inferior run rate, while Abu Dhabi Knight Riders were in second place on 10 points. The Warriors had lost their previous three matches, and in the most recent, on Monday, were bowled out at home for only 75 by the Knight Riders, ultimately losing by seven wickets. Two new English recruits, Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone, joined Sharjah from SA20 shortly before that match but were unable to make any significant contribution. The omens for the Warriors as they once again faced the Knight Riders on Wednesday, this time in Abu Dhabi, therefore were not good. But after their captain won the toss and chose to bowl, as is customary in this league, any doubts about Rashid and Livingstone that might have been lingering after Monday’s disappointment were swiftly dispelled. Man-of-the-match Rashid claimed four wickets for 12 runs, and added a run out. Livingstone went 1-for-24 in his four overs as the Knight Riders were unceremoniously dismissed for 94 in 17 overs. It was quite the turnaround by the Warriors, illustrating the effect that class players can have, properly utilized. The Warriors lost their captain, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, early on but Niroshan Dickwella and Livingstone, both of whom scored 30, progressed the scoring and the target of 95 was reached by Martin Guptill and Joe Denly in 13.5 overs for a comprehensive victory. The Warriors move up to fourth place in the table, on eight points, with one game to play. The pressure is now firmly on the teams in fifth and sixth, the Desert Vipers and Dubai Capitals, who will play each other on Friday.
