Will Unwin was at the City Ground to take in the five-goal showdown. And with that in, I’ll say goodbye. Cheers for tuning in. Quite the winner from Bruno. He saw where that Elanga pass was going before everyone else on the pitch – but still had loads to do after. Make sure you catch up on all the reaction from the big results in Germany and Spain. Poor Harry. So Newcastle are up to seventh, trailing Manchester United, who have a game in hand, by two points. Plenty going on when Eddie Howe’s men play lately: this follows on their 4-4 draw with Luton, 3-1 win over Aston Villa and 3-2 defeat to Manchester City. FULL-TIME: Nottingham Forest 2-3 Newcastle There’s no third equaliser for Forest, with Bruno’s second goal of the match the decisive one. Stop what you’re doing and dig out Leverkusen’s third goal against Bayern. Trust me. And, finally, the action from the Cottage: Ivan Toney is also back and doing his thing: Guess who’s back? The Late Show with Tottenham Hotspur: The good news for Liverpool: they’re still top of the pile. The bad news: Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injured his knee. From earlier in the day, Sheffield United nabbed a rare victory, winning 3-1 at Kenilworth Road. That probably doesn’t change their season but could have a serious impact on Luton’s. Nottingham Forest 2-3 Newcastle: Gio Reyna, the new boy, is on for Forest as they chase another equaliser. GOAL! Nottingham Forest 2-3 Newcastle (Bruno Guimarães 66) Beautiful from Bruno. He gets on the end of a wayward pass from Anthony Elanga on the edge of the box and curls it into the bottom right corner to give Newcastle the lead once again. Full-time at the Stadio Olimpico, with Inter beating Roma 4-2. Alessandro Bastoni applied the cherry on top in injury time. Nottingham Forest 2-2 Newcastle: Route-one from Forest, with Awoniyi getting on the end of a goal kick, but he can’t get proper control of the ball and eventually stumbles over in the box, under pressure from the keeper and the chasing Botman. There’s an appeal for a penalty kick. It’s a no from me and VAR. Nottingham Forest 2-2 Newcastle: A change for Newcastle just before the hour mark – Harvey Barnes replaces Miguel Almirón. Real Madrid are now 3-0 up against Girona, and it’s down to those two again: Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham. A huge moment in the Bundesliga … Nottingham Forest 2-2 Newcastle: Forest have the ball in the back of the net … but the flag goes up! It was Taiwo Awoniyi who slotted in, but he was clearly off. Hello, folks. Loads of action across Europe and there’s a real humdinger coming to a close in Italy. Inter are beating Roma 3-2 with less than 10 minutes of normal time to go, having been 2-1 down at half-time. Right, I’ve done my bit. It’s time to hand you over to Taha Hashim for the second half. Go easy. Over in Germany, Bayer Leverkusen are leading Bayern Munich 1-0 in their Bundesliga title clash while, in Spain, Real Madrid are 2-0 up against Girona. We’ve got minute-by-minute coverage of both games, in case you’d like to triple tab for the rest of the evening. An email from Chris Paraskevas has just landed. “This first-half Newcastle performance has been a perfect snapshot of our season so far: shoots of promise ultimately undone by shaky foundations. “I’m sure there will be a Dan Burn witchhunt on social media but how can Newcastle’s entire midfield be caught upfield for that first goal? It makes you pine for the simpler times of the Claude Makélélé era of the holding mid (when the holding midfielder actually, ermmm ... held their position and did some actual defending).” Nottingham Forest 2-2 Newcastle, half-time Twice Newcastle have led, and twice Forest’s wide men have pegged them back, with both sides scoring excellent goals. Thoughts on that first half? Goal! Nottingham Forest 2-2 Newcastle (Hudson-Odoi 45+6) My goodness. Callum Hudson-Odoi races away up the left flank, plays a one-two with Nicolás Domínguez on the edge of the area then scoops a spectacular shot past Dubravka from distance. It’s turning into quite a game, this. Goal! Nottingham Forest 1-2 Newcastle (Schär 44) Great finish. Trippier floats in a free kick from distance, Botman heads it across the box and Fabian Schär pops up with a half volley which rockets into the bottom corner. Newcastle lead once more. Just in case you missed our minute-by-minute, Qatar have won the Asian Cup via a hat-trick of penalties from Akram Afif. Here’s the match report, in case you’d like a read. Goal! Nottingham Forest 1-1 Newcastle (Elanga 26) It’s that man Elanga again but, this time, he finds the net. The winger gets between Burn and Sven Botman then slots low beneath Dubravka’s legs. Gibbs-White provided a lovely threaded assist. Game on! Nottingham Forest 0-1 Newcastle: Another big chance unfulfilled for Forest. Anthony Elanga gets away from Dan Burn and works an angle, but Martin Dubravka makes an excellent save. Any National League aficionados in the house? There’s a late kick off in the fifth tier, too, with Woking hosting Hartlepool United. The latter have opened the scoring via Joe Grey. Jeff Stelling will be pleased. Goal! Nottingham Forest 0-1 Newcastle (Guimarães 10) And just like that, the visitors are ahead. A Newcastle corner is played short to Kieran Trippier, who smashes a cross to the far post and finds Bruno Guimarães who scores an outrageous volley with the outside of his right boot. Nottingham Forest 0-0 Newcastle: The first big chance of the game falls to Morgan Gibbs-White, who fires wide after being teed up by Nuno Tavares. We’ve also got a roundup from the Championship, where there were just the 36 goals across 10 fixtures this afternoon. Hello! They’ve just kicked off at the City Ground but, before we get to the match action, here are our reports from the earlier Premier League games. My shift is nearly up, but Will Magee will be taking over shortly with coverage of Nottingham Forest v Newcastle. I’ve had a few emails on Liverpool v Burnley, so I’ll get them all in one update. Eagle Brosi has pointed out that the Clarets’ defeat means they can no longer mathematically win the league. Tough one to take. Joe Pearson is surprised: Watching Klopp and Kompany embrace at the end of the Liverpool v Burnley match. Kompany appears to be taller than Klopp! Who knew? Martin Kerr asks: All four goals in Liverpool v Burnley were headers - when’s the last time that happened? Sounds like one for the Knowledge. You can email us or tweet @TheKnowledge_GU. Mad fact, there were no 0-0 draws in any of England’s top five leagues in the 3pm kick-offs. It wasn’t just me then. League Two full time scores AFC Wimbledon 2-0 Barrow Crewe Alexandra 1-0 Crawley Doncaster 2-1 Tranmere Forest Green Rovers 0-4 Mansfield Grimsby 1-3 Stockport Harrogate 1-0 Colchester MK Dons 2-1 Accrington Morecambe 1-0 Sutton Swindon 1-1 Salford Walsall 0-3 Newport Wrexham 0-1 Bradford League One full time scores Barnsley 2-1 Leyton Blackpool 1-1 Oxford Bristol Rovers 1-2 Burton Albion Cambridge 0-2 Cheltenham Carlisle 0-1 Portsmouth Derby County 1-1 Shrewsbury Town Lincoln City 2-1 Fleetwood Northampton 1-1 Bolton Port Vale 2-2 Stevenage Reading 2-0 Charlton Wigan 1-2 Exeter Wycombe 5-2 Peterborough Championship full time scores Blackburn 3-1 Stoke Cardiff 0-2 Preston Hull 0-1 Swansea Leeds 3-0 Rotherham Middlesbrough 1-2 Bristol City QPR 2-2 Norwich Southampton 5-3 Huddersfield Sunderland 3-1 Plymouth Argyle Watford 1-2 Leicester Premier League full time scores Fulham 3-1 Bournemouth Liverpool 3-1 Burnley Luton 1-3 Sheffield United Tottenham 2-1 Brighton Wolves 0-2 Brentford Full time: Fulham 3-1 Bournemouth Full time: Luton 1-3 Sheffield United Full time: Tottenham 2-1 Brighton Goal! Tottenham 2-1 Brighton (Johnson 90+6) Against the run of play Johnson has got the winner. Tough for Brighton who have been the better side since Spurs’ leveller. Full time: Liverpool 3-1 Burnley Full time: Wolves 0-2 Brentford Late goal in the Phil Parkison derby at the Racecourse, Bradford have got it and look likely to steal all three points against Wrexham. It’s now 5-3 to Southampton, what a game! Of course there has been another goal at St Mary’s! Saints now lead 4-3! Sekou Mara scoring from David Brooks assist. Wild times in League One, Wycombe were 3-0 up against Peterborough, the Posh got it back to 3-2, but the home side got a fourth. Shrewsbury have equalised at Derby. Southampton have equalised again! A Tom Lees own goal means it’s now 3-3. There’s been a fourth goal at Loftus Road, but who’s got it….? …It’s QPR, 2-2! In League One, ten-man Bolton have equalised at Northampton. Goal! Liverpool 3-1 Burnley (Nunez 79) This is over. Nunez somehow stretches backward and gets enough purchase on his header to direct Harvey Elliot’s clipped cross past Trafford. Goal! Wolves 0-2 Brentford (Toney 77) Wonderful instinctive finish this from Toney. A low cross comes in from the left, the Brentford striker has far too much room but take nothing away from his finish, first time into the bottom corner. Goal! Luton 1-3 Sheffield United (Souza 72) Who saw this coming? Forest Green Rovers are struggling at the bottom of League Two, looking odds on for a return to the National League, they’re 2-0 down at home to promotion chasing Mansfield. Peter Crosby has emailed in: Re: ‘I’m struggling to keep up here!’ (16.16) - Welcome to the fast-paced, high octane world of MBM. It’s ripe for a movie adaptation. Who would you have play you? Clive Owen? This is not my first clockwatch rodeo, but it’s been by far the busiest. As for who plays me, I’ll take Tom Hardy please. More drama at St Mary’s, having got it back to 2-2, Southampton are behind again. Alex Matos has got a third for Huddersfield. In games featuring sides at the top of League One, Portsmouth have taken the lead at Carlisle (long journey that) and Derby are 1-0 at home against Shrewsbury. Quick Championship update, Leeds now lead 3-0, Norwich are now 2-1 ahead against QPR, Watford have halved Leicester’s lead thanks to Emmanuel Dennis and Sunderland are now 3-1 up against Plymouth. Goal! Brighton 1-1 Tottenham (Sarr 61) This has been coming, but it’s unlucky for Brighton. Dunk makes a great block to keep out a cutback to Richarlison but it falls to Sarr, who tucks it in. More Championship goals to update you on, Leeds and Leicester are now both 2-0 up. Sunderland lead 2-1 at home against Plymouth, the Black Cats were 1-0 down at half-time, and Norwich have equalised at Loftus Road. Fulham 3-1 Bournemouth (Muniz 52) They could not. Goal! Fulham 2-1 Bournemouth (Senesi 50) Marcos Senesi finds the net after Dominic Solanke kept the ball alive in the Fulham box. They couldn’t could they? I’m struggling to keep up here! Southampton, who were 2-0 down at half-time, are back level! Goal! Luton 1-2 Sheffield United (Morris pen 52) Game on at Kenilworth Road. Morris puts it away from the spot to half the deficit. Goal! Liverpool 2-1 Burnley (Diaz 52) This is contentious, VAR is checking a couple of issues but Diaz has the ball in from close range as he bundles home Jota’s cutback. VAR check! Wolves think they have an equaliser through Craig Dawson, but the defender is very, very marginally offside. Right, I’ve had a big glass of water. Second halfs now underway… Simon McMahon has a half-time fitba update: Partick leading Livingston by the only goal at half time. 0-0 at Inverness. Aberdeen 2-0 up and cruising, Kilmarnock lead Cove 1-0. League Two half-time scores AFC Wimbledon 2-0 Barrow Crewe Alexandra 0-0 Crawley Town Doncaster 1-0 Tranmere Forest Green 0-1 Mansfield Town Grimsby0-3 Stockport Harrogate 0-0 Colchester MK Dons 0-1 Accrington Stanley Morecambe 1-0 Sutton Swindon 0-0 Salford City Walsall 0-3 Newport County Wrexham 0-0 Bradford League One half-time scores Barnsley 0-1 Leyton Orient Blackpool 1-1 Oxford Bristol Rovers 0-1 Burton Cambridge 0-0 Cheltenham Carlisle 0-0 Portsmouth Derby 0-0 Shrewsbury Town Lincoln City 0-1 Fleetwood Northampton Town 1-0 Bolton Port Vale 1-0 Stevenage Reading 0-0 Charlton Wigan 0-1 Exeter Wycombe 1-0 Peterborough Championship half-time scores Blackburn 3-1 Stoke Cardiff 0-2 Preston Hull 0-1 Swansea Leeds 1-0 Rotherham Middlesbrough 0-2 Bristol City QPR 1-0 Norwich Southampton 0-2 Huddersfield Sunderland 0-1 Plymouth Argyle Watford 0-1 Leicester Premier League half-time scores Fulham 2-0 Bournemouth Liverpool 1-1 Burnley Luton 0-2 Sheff Utd Tottenham 0-1 Brighton Wolves 0-1 Brentford Into injury-time for most of the afternoon kick-offs… Oooft, Saints now 2-0 down at home against mid-table Huddersfield. Goal! Liverpool 1-1 Burnley (O"Shea 45) What a goal from Dara O’Shea! That is a stunning leap and powerful, arching header that beats Kelleher in the Liverpool goal from a Burnley corner. While all that was happening, Huddersfield scored at St Mary’s to go 1-0 up. With Leicester and Leeds both winning, anything but three points for Southampton will be blow to their hopes of jumping into the automatic promotion spots. Goal Luton 0-2 Sheffield United (McAtee pen 36) The referee is called to the screen for a handball in the Luton box by Reece Burke. Up steps James McAtee to convert. Goal! Fulham 2-0 Bournemouth (Muniz 36) It’s all happening now! Muniz makes it 2-0, Willian sweeps in a cross to the far post and it’s nodded back across goal and the Fulham man gets across his defender to poke home. Goal! Wolves 0-1 Brentford (Norgaard 35) Bad to worse for Wolves as the visitors go ahead. Goal! Liverpool 1-0 Burnley (Jota 31) Oh dear James Trafford. The Burnley keeper comes to claim a corner but gets nowhere near it and Diogo Jota has a relatively easy header to put the Reds ahead. Goal! Luton 0-1 Sheffield United (Archer 30) He missed a chance earlier, but now Cameron Archer has put the Blades ahead. Does this count as a shock given Luton’s recent form? Bad to worse for Bolton, they are now down to ten. George Thomasonn sent off for serious foul play. Spurs have had a couple of big chances to level against Brighton, but both James Maddison and Richarlison failed to find the net. There’s no way this ends 1-0. Blow for Wolves, he scored a hat-trick last week but Matheus Cunha’s afternoon is over. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is on. Blackburn, who axed manager Jon Dahl Tomasson earlier this week, are 2-0 up now thanks to Sam Szmodics. New boss John Eustace is not in the dugout but will be a happy man so far. At the top of League Two, Stockport County lead 2-0 at Grimsby. Goal! Tottenham 0-1 Brighton (Gross 17, pen) Danny Welbeck is felled in the box by Van de Ven, obvious foul taking away the striker’s trailing leg. Pascal Gross tucks away the spotkick. It’s almost like Leeds got wind of the score at Vicarage Road. Patrick Bamford has his side ahead against Rotherham. Elsewhere in the second tier, Blackburn are beating Stoke 1-0 at Ewood Park. Goal! Leicester are 1-0 up at Watford, with Patson Daka scoring from the spot to put the league leaders ahead. Goal! Fulham 1-0 Bournemouth (Decordova-Reid 5) First goal in the Premier League 3pm KOs is at Craven Cottage, Bobby Decordova-Reid takes advantage of a slip at the back in the Bournemouth defence and slots home. Goal! In League One, Northampton have gone 1-0 up at home against Bolton. The Trotters were hoping to get back into automatic promotion spots with a win as they’re chasing Derby and table-topper Portsmouth. 2min: Big chance for Brighton to take an early lead as Welbeck takes advantage of a Micky van de Ven slip to race in on goal. His left-foot shot forces Vicario into a strong save. Peeeeeep! We are underway in the 3pm KOs! Simon McMahon has a fitba preview from north of the border: It’s the Scottish Cup round of 16 today, and a couple of Scottish Championship sides will be hopeful of repeating Morton’s heroics against Motherwell last night and upsetting their Premiership opponents, namely Big Dunc’s Inverness, who host Hibs, and Partick Thistle, who welcome bottom of the table Livingston. Less chance of any romance at Pittodrie, as Neil Warnock takes charge of Aberdeen at home for the first time against Bonnyrigg Rose, and Kilmarnock, who will be expected to beat Cove Rangers at home. Who wants to feel old? On the bench today for Liverpool is Lewis Koumas, 18, son of ‘streets won’t forget’ Jason. In the Championship, Ipswich twice trailed but earned a 2-2 draw at home against West Brom with Omari Hutchinson scoring in the 93rd minute to earn a point for the Tractor Boys. Full-time at the Etihad where City have won, all the reaction here: City looking ominously comfortable and now 2:0 up: Picking through the team news these are probably the headlines for those of you checking your fanstasy teams: Allison and Joe Gomez are missing for Liverpool, both are ill apparently Son Heung-min is back on the bench for Tottenham, Pape Matar Sarr is back in the starting XI Kaoru Mitoma starts for Brighton, but Joao Pedro has a hamstring issue and is not the squad Hwang Hee-chan is not in the Wolves squad Ben Brereton Diaz is injured and not the Sheffield United squad For those just tuning in, City have taken the lead against Everton and you’ll never guess who got the goal: Team news: Fulham v Bournemouth Fulham: Leno, Castagne, Diop, Ream, Robinson, Joao Palhinha, Cairney, De Cordova-Reid, Andreas Pereira, Willian, Rodrigo Muniz. Preamble Five games kicking off at 3pm in the Premier League feels like something of a throwback and I certainly hope that is enough to keep to keep me busy with goal updates. Call me Jeff Stelling Simon Thomas. Liverpool will be hoping Manchester City slip up in the early game against Everton but the Reds can retake top spot regardless of the result at the Etihad with a win over Burnley. Interestingly the Clarets have scored the opening goal in four of their last six visits to Anfield, but Liverpool have won eight of the past 10 Premier League meetings. At the bottom end of the table, Luton have a chance to end the day as high as 15th if they beat Sheffield United at Kenilworth Road and other results go the Hatters’ way. With Nottingham Forest hosting Newcastle and Brentford travelling to Wolves it could be a big momentum swing for Rob Edwards’ side by the time Match of the Day comes on. Spurs v Brighton is another game worth keeping an eye on as it looks like guaranteed goals. Fans of losing money can get the 0-0 at 29/1, but Spurs have scored in 35 consecutive matches and Brighton have kept two clean sheets in the league all season. I will also be attempting to provide udpates on the big matches in the EFL before Taha Hashim takes over the minute-by-minute for the 5.30pm kick-off between Forest and Newcastle. Team news to follow shortly.
