A four-month-old baby boy has died after a collision between a van and a taxi in Leeds. The infant was a passenger in a Toyota Auris taxi when it was involved in a head-on crash with a Vauxhall Vivaro van at about 4.55pm on Monday. The child suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he died on Wednesday, police said. The 54-year-old driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was released on bail. West Yorkshire police appealed for witnesses to come forward. The incident happened when the van was heading northbound on the A1620 Horsforth Road near Rodley at rush-hour. Two women from the taxi and the van driver were also taken to hospital for treatment. Police urged anyone who witnessed the crash, or may have dashcam footage, to call the major collision team on 101 or use the livechat facility on the West Yorkshire police website.
