Blinken said US would continue to support Jordan’s path toward prosperity under King Abdullah’s leadership AMMAN: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken celebrated 75 years of US-Jordan diplomatic relations on Sunday, highlighting the “enduring alliance between the two countries.” In a statement, Blinken said that the US-Jordanian relationship has expanded over decades to encompass economic development and commercial ties, enhancing opportunities for women and youth. “Our relationship has been a testament to a shared vision of peace, security and prosperity for the entire region,” Blinken said, adding: “Our partnership has thrived over the last 75 years due to the steadfast bonds between the peoples of our two countries, as well as our leaders.” Blinken said that the US would continue to support Jordan’s path toward prosperity and stability under the leadership of King Abdullah II. “Since February 18, 1949, when Wells Stabler was appointed as the first American Charge d’Affaires ad interim in Jordan, our nations have stood together as partners, allies and firm friends,” he said. Following a meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House on Monday, Blinken held talks with King Abdullah to discuss a ceasefire in Gaza.
