RIYADH: The Saudi Culinary Arts Commission recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Sawani to promote Saudi national culinary heritage. Sawani, a Public Investment Fund-owned company, produces and sells camel milk products locally and internationally. The signing of the memorandum coincides with Saudi Year of the Camel 2024, which highlights the cultural importance of the animal in the Kingdom. As part of the agreement, the commission and Sawani will launch projects and initiatives to enrich the culinary arts sector in the Kingdom, aiming to promote Saudi dishes in the local and international food and beverage arena. Mayada Badr, CEO of the commission, said that the memorandum was signed within the framework of partnerships between the commission and the public, private and nonprofit sectors. It aims to consolidate the culture of culinary arts in the Kingdom through unique food recipes, authentic local products and flavors that characterize Saudi cuisine. Sawani CEO Ahmed Jamal Al-Din said that the company is committed to highlighting the Kingdom’s ancient heritage and raising consumer awareness of the health value of camel products. The company also aims to promote camels as an integral part of Saudi national heritage, he added.
