The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has further solidified its leadership in the global desalination sector by achieving nine new Guinness World Records. As the world’s foremost producer of desalinated water, generating over 11.5 million cubic meters daily, SWCC’s recent recognitions underscore its groundbreaking achievements across various water projects. The ceremony, graced by the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, and SWCC Governor, Eng. Abdullah Al-Abdulkarim, saw SWCC being awarded for achievements including operating the world"s largest desalination plant at Ras Al-Khair, with a nearly 3 million cubic meters daily production capacity. It also celebrated having the world"s largest covered water reservoir, the world"s largest drinking water storage facility at the Briman Strategic Water Reservoir, and the largest covered drinking water storage facility in Riyadh. Additionally, SWCC was recognized for operating the largest piped water transmission system for water desalination, the largest mobile desalination plant, the largest multi-effect distillation desalination unit, and the largest network of water reservoirs for drinking water storage. A record for the world"s lowest desalination energy consumption, achieving less than 2.271 kWh per cubic meter, was also among the accolades. Eng. Abdullah Al-Abdulkarim highlighted the importance of these records in reinforcing SWCC’s pioneering role in the desalination industry and its stride towards future advancements. He attributed the success to a strategic focus on business efficiency, technological integration, capability enhancement, and knowledge localization, under the guidance of Saudi Arabia"s wise leadership. The accomplishments reflect SWCC"s commitment to pushing the boundaries of the desalination industry, aiming for breakthroughs that underscore Saudi leadership globally. These records come on the heels of SWCC"s recognition for Local Content for the second consecutive year, showcasing the corporation"s dedication to development, sustainability, and securing environmental and water resources for the future.
