Radical preacher Anjem Choudary has pleaded not guilty to two terror offenses relating to the banned group Al-Muhajiroun. The 57-year-old is accused of being a member of a proscribed organization and addressing meetings to encourage support for a proscribed organization. He appeared via video link at the Old Bailey on Monday to deny the charges. A second suspect, Khaled Hussein, also pleaded not guilty to charges relating to membership of the group. Choudary was arrested in London by counter-terrorism detectives on July 17, 2023, the same day 29-year-old Hussein was detained after getting off a flight at Heathrow. Prosecutors allege Hussein helped set up the Canadian branch of Al-Muhajiroun and said he was "in effect working for" Choudary. The pair will appear at Kingston Crown Court on June 4, for a trial estimated to last six to eight weeks. Choudary will reappear at the Old Bailey for a further hearing on April 23. — BBC
