Brighton have posted a post-tax profit of £122.8m for the 2022-23 season, up from £24.1m in the previous financial year. Turnover for the period was the Premier League club’s highest, rising by 17.2% to £204.5m, against £174.5m in the 2021-22 campaign. The figures include the fees received for Alexis Mac Allister, Yves Bissouma and Marc Cucurella, as well as compensation for the former head coach Graham Potter’s move to Chelsea. Brighton finished sixth last season to qualify for the Europa League, in addition to reaching the FA Cup semi-finals. Paul Barber, the deputy chairman and chief executive who on Tuesday extended his contract to 2030, said: “In a season when we made history on the pitch, we took a huge step forward in terms of the club’s long-held aim of becoming more sustainable and less reliant on Tony Bloom’s incredibly generous levels of investment. “We now have a very solid platform to continue to make significant progress on the pitch, by investing in our squad. The dream is to be regularly challenging for a European place and for silverware.”
