Saudi commission launches international training program for literary agencies

The Saudi Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, in partnership with Cornerstones, a firm specializing in literary consultancy, has initiated the International Training Program to Qualify Literary Agents and Develop Literary Agencies 2024. This program is designed to bolster the capabilities of literary agents within Saudi Arabia through comprehensive, high-quality training. Participants will engage in workshops and receive advice and guidance from industry experts, with the goal of aligning their operations with international standards. The initiative also aims to enhance the agents" skills and acquaint them with the latest creative solutions and tools in the global publishing industry. This training program stems from the commission"s earlier "Literary Agent" initiative, marking a pioneering step in the Arab world to uplift the local publishing sector and enrich literary production and its variety. Literary agents, whether individuals or entities, are instrumental in representing authors to potential beneficiaries of their intellectual and literary works, including publishers and production companies. This initiative ensures authors gain optimal benefits from their work, adhering to the finest legal, contractual, and marketing practices that safeguard their rights.
