El-Sisi highlights Cairo’s support for the Palestinian cause and a just settlement CAIRO: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause during his meeting on Tuesday with Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa and Planning Minister Wael Zakout. The prime minister expressed his appreciation for the support, conveying to El-Sisi greetings from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. El-Sisi welcomed the prime minister, wishing him and the new government success in their efforts to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people. Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, and Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala El-Said attended the meeting from the Egyptian side, as did Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Diab Al-Louh. El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s support for the Palestinian cause until just Palestinian rights are guaranteed for a sovereign and independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The meeting assessed Egypt’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, release prisoners, and ensure the delivery of essential aid to address the severe humanitarian crisis in the region. Despite the obstacles, the Palestinian prime minister praised Egypt’s crucial role in providing relief to Gaza. The two sides confirmed their unequivocal rejection of Palestinians being displaced from their lands. They also cautioned against military escalation and expansion of the conflict. They emphasized that the only way to restore security and stability in the region would be by justly resolving the Palestinian issue. Madbouly had earlier welcomed his Palestinian counterpart at Cairo International Airport, where he affirmed Egypt’s support for the Palestinian cause. He noted Cairo’s efforts to accelerate aid delivery to the Gaza Strip and to reach an immediate ceasefire. During the meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Mustafa referred to the suffering of the Palestinian people under an Israeli siege that has endured for years, as well as the fierce war that Israel is presently waging against the Gaza Strip.
