Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received Sheikh Muhammad Al-Issa, secretary general of the Muslim World League (MWL) and chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, at his office in Islamabad. Al-Issa is currently visiting Pakistan, in response to an official invitation from the country. During the reception, the two leaders discussed topics of common interest, especially those related to areas of Islamic work. Speaking on the occasion, Sharif commended the MWL’s efforts and initiatives in uniting the viewpoints of Islamic scholars, the most recent of which was the international conference held under the title: “Building bridges between Islamic schools of thought,” which was hosted by Saudi Arabia, under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. In this context, he stressed that Pakistan attaches utmost importance to its strong fraternal relations with the Kingdom that derive their roots from common faith and common Islamic values. The prime minister lauded the great efforts being exerted by MWL in clarifying the facts of Islam and confronting the practices and rhetoric of Islamophobia, stressing his country’s continued support for the league in all its efforts within and outside Pakistan
