One Garrick Club member is quoted as saying that he will immediately apply to join the Women’s Institute (‘No longer remotely defensible’: Garrick’s decision to admit women shows times have changed, 7 May). Wouldn’t it be wonderful if their memberships could swap en masse? The Women’s Institute could run the elite organs of state and the Garrick could devote its talents to local communities.
