The family of a woman stabbed to death on a Dorset beach have paid tribute to a beautiful and loving daughter, wife and mother. Sports coach Amie Gray, 34, was stabbed numerous times in an attack on her and another woman, 38, on Bournemouth beach. Amie’s wife, Sian Gray, said: “Words cannot describe the pain that we feel. Amie was the most loving wife and mother. Her giggly laugh and big smile will be hard to be without. A larger than life character. I will miss you immensely my love. To the moon and back, forever and always.” She added: “Thank you for all of the love and support shown and for respecting our privacy. It is a difficult time for everyone.” Gray’s mother, Sharon Macklin, said: “As a family we are devastated to have lost one of the most amazing, funny, kind and energetic souls. When Amie entered a room it filled with laughter and her presence could not be ignored. “She was beautiful inside and out and there are no words that can express how empty our lives will be without her. We will miss her so much and our hearts are forever broken.” A 20-year-old man from Croydon, south London, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and remains in custody. The opening of Gray’s inquest at Bournemouth town hall heard that she died at Durley Chine beach at 11.42pm on Friday night. Ambulance crews were called but she was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.24am. The five-minute hearing heard that she was married to beauty therapist Sian Gray and lived in a suburb of Poole, Dorset. Her body was formally identified by a police family liaison officer from images provided by her family. Coroner’s officer Grace Monro said: “On 24 May at 11.42pm Dorset police received reports that two people had been stabbed on Durley Chine beach.” An initial postmortem examination took place on 26 May and the provisional cause of death was “multiple stab wounds”. The senior coroner for Dorset, Rachael Griffin, adjourned the inquest for a pre-inquest review hearing to take place on 11 December. The 38-year-old woman who was also stabbed remains in hospital with serious injuries. She has not been named. Gray was the women’s head coach at Dorset futsal club. The club posted on its Facebook page: “The club has received some truly devastating news. We cannot put this into words at this time and as a mark of respect to all those affected, we will not be posting anything new for the foreseeable future.”
