Saudi Arabia has reiterated its steadfast support for Sudan and its people amid the ongoing crisis. This reaffirmation came during the participation of the Kingdom"s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, in an interactive dialogue held by the Human Rights Council regarding the situation in Sudan. In a statement before the Human Rights Council, the Kingdom"s Permanent Representative expressed concern over the continuation of military operations in Sudan and the resulting suffering. He reiterated the call for a return to dialogue to reach a political solution that spares the Sudanese people from the horrors of war. He emphasized the need to protect civilians and humanitarian workers, maintain infrastructure, and reiterated that the Kingdom advocates for a Sudanese-Sudanese political solution that respects Sudan"s unity, sovereignty, and national institutions. The ambassador highlighted that Saudi Arabia hosted the Jeddah talks between the parties of the Sudanese crisis to establish a truce and reach a final agreement to cease hostilities. The goal is to end the crisis in a manner that preserves Sudan"s sovereignty and unity, enabling the country to restore its security, stability, and progress towards a better future.
