The Public Prosecution, represented by the Financial Fraud Prosecution, has initiated investigation procedures against a citizen accused of violating the Anti-Financial Fraud Law, and the Commercial Papers Law. The investigation revealed that the accused, acting in bad faith, issued checks without sufficient funds to cover them and in a manner that prevented their encashment. The total amounted to 22 checks worth approximately SR12 million. The accused defrauded the victims by deceiving them into believing there were fictitious tenders to invest their money. Following the arrest of the accused and his referral to the competent court, along with the presentation of evidence against him, a judgment was issued convicting him of the charges. He was sentenced to five years in prison, fined SR300,000, and ordered to return the defrauded amounts to their rightful owners. The Public Prosecution strongly warned against the dangers of all forms of financial fraud and the legal protection of commercial checks, emphasizing that anyone committing such acts will face severe penalties and will be immediately referred to the competent courts to seek the strictest legal sanctions.
