The home secretary, Yvette Cooper, has told MPs Rishi Sunak"s government spent £700m of taxpayers" money to send just four volunteers to Rwanda under its controversial deportation scheme intended to discourage asylum seekers from coming to the UK. Cooper said the Tories had planned to spend £10bn in total on the scheme, a number that had not been relayed to parliament before. Keir Starmer scrapped the scheme during his first week in Downing Street
