Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca downplayed a statement sent out by Raheem Sterling"s representatives saying they wanted "clarity" about the winger"s future at the club after he didn"t make the bench against Manchester City. The Italian said Sterling"s omission from the 2-0 Premier League defeat was no more than a "technical decision" Maresca also defended his decision to give midfielder Enzo Fernández the captain"s armband for the team"s opening Premier League game of the season, despite the Argentina international being filmed singing a racist chant during the offseason. He labelled Chelsea"s performance at Stamford Bridge "quite good", as the hosts put City under pressure before Mateo Kovacic sealed victory late on. ‘We’ll clarify in the next days’: Maresca to decide Sterling’s Chelsea future
