Three men have been charged with murder after the death of a man at a prison in Leicester on Tuesday morning. Police were called to HMP Fosse Way after a 31-year-old inmate was found unresponsive in his cell. Shaan Karim, 38, Thierry Robinson, 21, and Ashirie Smith, 18, have all been charged with murder. The trio have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Leicester magistrates court on Friday. Two men, aged 27 and 28, arrested on suspicion of murder, have been released under investigation. A sixth man, 35, arrested on suspicion of murder had previously been released under investigation. Fosse Way was opened in June 2023 at a cost of £286m. Built on the site previously occupied by HMP Glen Parva, which closed in 2017, the category C prison has space for 1,715 inmates.
