A second man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a parcel delivery driver who was killed in Leeds on Tuesday. The 24-year-old suspect, who had been on the run for two days, was arrested alongside a woman suspected of assisting an offender. A 32-year-old man who was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of murder remains in custody. Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the death of Claudiu-Carol Kondor, 42, who was described by his colleagues as a “dedicated and cherished” friend. Kondor was pronounced dead at the scene in Wortley, Leeds, on Tuesday after his silver Ford Transit van was stolen while he was making a delivery. He was given emergency medical treatment by paramedics at about 6.50pm but was pronounced dead a short time after. The van was later found abandoned about 6 miles (10km) away in the Belle Isle suburb of Leeds. In a tribute, Mike Neill, the operations manager of SP Transport Group, the delivery company Kondor worked for, said the “unimaginable loss has left us all devastated”. He said: “Claudiu was more than just a colleague – he was a friend, a confidant, and a valued member of our team. His commitment to his work and the camaraderie he brought to the workplace will never be forgotten. The impact of this tragedy extends far beyond our workplace, affecting all who had the privilege of knowing Claudiu.” More than £10,000 has been donated to the family of Kondor, who was from Sheffield, in an online fundraiser. On Wednesday, police described the death as a “truly shocking incident where the victim has been killed while going about his business as a parcel delivery driver”. The senior investigating officer, DCI James Entwistle, said: “We have spoken to a number of witnesses but are still very keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any part of this incident. “That appeal covers the circumstances of the van being stolen in Alliance Street at about 6.45pm; the journey it took along Heights Drive to where the victim was found; its movements as it fled the scene there; and its movements before being found abandoned in Highlands Walk in Belle Isle, which is about 6 miles away.”
