A medical team specializing in thoracic surgery at King Saud University Medical City successfully removed a cancerous tumor from the lung of a 70-year-old patient using a surgical robot. Led by Dr. Suha Kaaki, a thoracic surgery consultant and assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine, the team quickly diagnosed the case and formed a specialized medical team to address the tumor. After reviewing the patient’s condition, the team decided to perform a "robotic segmentectomy of the lung," utilizing a surgical robot to make small incisions no larger than 1 centimeter. Dr. Kaaki emphasized that this procedure is one of the most delicate and rare surgeries performed in Saudi Arabia. The operation was a success, with the tumor completely removed, and the patient was discharged just two days later in good health. King Saud University Medical City is renowned for conducting some of the most advanced and complex surgeries, employing cutting-edge technologies and benefiting from the expertise of internationally trained consultants.
