Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz conferred the officials with their new ranks during a reception RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman has issued a royal order promoting and appointing five senior military officials to key positions in the Kingdom’s armed forces, the Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday. Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz conferred the officials with their new military ranks during a reception at his office, the ministry said in a press statement posted on its website and on the X platform. All five were promoted to the rank of lieutenant general. They are: Lt. Gen. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Ghofaily, deputy chief of the General Staff; Lt. Gen. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Mutair, advisor in the Office of the Minister of Defense; Lt. Gen. Fahd bin Hamad Al-Salman, commander of the Joint Forces; Lt. Gen. Fahd bin Saud Al-Johani, chief of staff of the Land Forces; and Lt. Gen. Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Ghuraybi, chief of staff of the Naval Forces. The ceremony was attended by Lt. Gen. Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, chief of the General Staff; Mutlaq bin Salem Al-Azima, adviser at the Royal Court; Assistant Defense Minister Talal bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi; Dr. Khalid bin Hussein Al-Bayari, assistant minister of defense for executive affairs; Director General Samir bin Abdulaziz Al-Tabib of the Office of the Minister of Defense, and Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif.
