At least seven people, including three children, were killed, and 64 others were injured in a Russian airstrike on the western Ukrainian city of Lviv overnight, officials said on Wednesday. Lviv Governor Maksym Kozytskyi described the incident as a "terrible tragedy," adding that the strike damaged a regional sports and rehabilitation center and seven architectural monuments in the city. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi reported fires near the city’s main rail station and damage to residential buildings, with window panes shattered in many areas. Two schools will remain closed due to the damage. Ukraine’s Air Force stated that it intercepted seven out of 13 missiles and 22 out of 29 attack drones launched by Russia, targeting several regions including Kyiv, Lviv, and Sumy. Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed responsibility, stating the strikes targeted Ukrainian defense industry enterprises in Lviv, alleging that missile systems and aircraft for the Ukrainian military were being produced and repaired there. — Agencies
