Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé has suffered a muscle injury, casting doubt over the forward’s participation in the weekend derby against Atlético Madrid. Mbappé has been in fine form for Real following his big-money summer move from Paris Saint-Germain, scoring seven goals in nine matches across all competitions. The 25-year-old was substituted in the 80th minute of the 3-2 win against Deportivo Alavés at the Bernabéu on Tuesday and gestured to his thigh while leaving the pitch. “Following tests carried out today on Kylian Mbappé, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg,” read a club statement. “His progress will be monitored.” Spanish media has reported that the France captain will be ruled out of Sunday’s trip to the Metropolitano. Barcelona stay perfect at top A first-half strike by Robert Lewandowski earned a below-strength Barcelona a 1-0 La Liga win over lowly Getafe on Wednesday to maintain their 100% record after seven games.
