Tottenham draw Manchester City in fourth round Manchester City will travel to Tottenham in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. Holders Liverpool have been drawn to play away at Brighton, while Manchester United are at home against Leicester. Championship outfit Preston’s reward for seeing off top-flight Fulham in an epic penalty shoot-out last week is a home game with Arsenal. Fellow second-tier sides Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke go to Brentford and Southampton respectively. There is another all-Premier League tie as Aston Villa host Crystal Palace, and a potential one if Newcastle get past League Two AFC Wimbledon, with the winners of that game to face Chelsea at home. The AFC Wimbledon-Newcastle contest was due to be played at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Tuesday night but was switched to St James’ Park next Tuesday after the former was affected by flooding. The fourth-round games are scheduled to take place in the week commencing 28 October. PA Media That is all from me tonight. Thank you for your company and all your emails! Here is some post-match reading for you. Carabao Cup fourth round draw Brentford v Sheffield Wednesday Southampton v Stoke Tottenham v Manchester City AFC Wimbledon/Newcastle v Chelsea Manchester United v Leicester Brighton v Liverpool Preston v Arsenal Aston Villa v Crystal Palace Ties will be played on the week commencing on 28 October Here are the teams that will be in the Carabao Cup fourth round draw. Arsenal Aston Villa Brentford Brighton Chelsea Crystal Palace Leicester Liverpool Manchester City Manchester United Preston Sheffield Wednesday Southampton Stoke Tottenham AFC Wimbledon/Newcastle* *Tie was postponed due to sinkhole on the pitch and will be played next week Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones speak after Liverpool’s 5-1 win. Jota: It was not an easy game. Maybe not. Game was completely different. They made it hard for us. They kept the ball. It was important to get the equaliser. And to score at Anfield is always special. We are still developing our ideas [under the new manager, Arne Slot] but by winning we can only improve. Jones: It has been hard. I had an injury. But I am happy to be back. We have got a big team but we can change the whole team and play well. Up next, is the League Cup draw for the next round. While we wait for that, though here is my favourite goal from today’s Europa League matches. Full-times in the Europa League Dynamo Kyiv 0-3 Lazio Midtjylland 1-1 Hoffenheim Galatasaray 3-1 PAOK Ludogorets 0-2 Slavia Praha Nice 1-1 Real Sociedad Anderlecht 2-1 Ferencvaros Manchester United 1-1 Twente You can follow along to live reaction from Old Trafford here. Full-time! Liverpool 5-1 West Ham West Ham had flashes of brilliance but ultimately Lopetegui will have plenty of questions to answer. Lack of cohesive plan, too slow and not clinical enough. Liverpool started slow and kept their heads up after conceding. Jota, their most clinical striker at the moment, scored two before Salah added a third from off the bench and Gakpo capped it off with two late goals. GOAL! Liverpool 5-1 West Ham (Gakpo 90+3) This is so painful for West Ham. You would think a clash between two Premier League sides in the League Cup would be more competitive. Gakpo uses his body as a shield to keep hold of the ball, and similar to his earlier goal comes inside, but this time hits one at the far post. A deflection means that Fabianski can’t react in time to make the save. GOAL! Liverpool 4-1 West Ham (Gakpo 90) Great combination between Tsimikas and Gakpo and the Dutch breaks through on the left and beats Fabianski at the near post. He’s worked hard tonight, as he has all season, and certainly deserved a goal to cap off the performance. RED CARDS! Dynamo Kyiv 0-3 Lazio Earlier, Bragaru got a straight red for an ankle stamp and Noslin has now been sent off for an off-the-ball foul after a flying elbow in the box. Full-time! Arsenal 5-1 Bolton Arteta’s side breeze into the next round with five goals from four different players. A great night for the north London side, having been able to rest some of their key players and bed in some debutants. RED CARD! Liverpool 3-1 West Ham (Álvarez 76) Silly mistake here from Álvarez. Salah is near the touchline, well away from the goal and Álvarez has Cresswell alongside him, but he still opts to slide into the Liverpool winger’s ankle. He gets his second yellow and then is dismissed. He’s killed the slim chance his team had. GOAL! Liverpool 3-1 West Ham (Salah 74) About 15 minutes ago, Jota was substituted off – a huge relief for West Ham players. Until they turn to see Salah coming on to replace him. Um, no thanks. The Egyptian plays the ball to Bradley, who finds Mac Allister. The keeper saves the initial shot but Salah fires the rebound right into the roof of the net. GOAL! Anderlecht 2-0 Ferencvaros (Dolberg 66 pen) An obvious penalty after a trip in the box and Dolberg (that’s a name you have not heard in a while) makes no mistake as he hits it low and hard. Liverpool 2-1 West Ham: It is all kicking off at Anfield! Lopetegui gets booked after he mouths at the referee. He wants a penalty but Liverpool’s Tsimikas is adamant the ball hit in the stomach. And it seems the referee agrees with him. His arms were up though, if that matters. GOAL! Anderlecht 1-0 Ferencvaros (Verschaeren 60) Every game in Europe now officially has a goal! Fantastic low first time finish from Verschaeren gives the Belgian side the lead. GOAL! Arsenal 5-1 Bolton (Havertz 78) Jesus slips on the right side but he manages to get the ball to Sterling. The former Chelsea man surges forward and takes a shot which is saved but the ball finds Havertz and he scores a looping goal. We are close to a silly scoreline now in north London. PENALTY SAVE! Nice 1-1 Real Sociedad The referee gives Nice a penalty after he deems that a pull on Guessand in the box from a corner was a foul. Guessand steps up and the captain stutters forward and his shot to Remiro’s right is weak at best and the keeper keeps it out. Still all tied in Nice! GOAL! Galatasaray 1-0 PAOK (Baba Rahman 48 og) Um … I do not know how to dress this up so I will just say that is one of the worst goals to concede … From a corner, Osimhen heads the ball to the far post. Baba Rahman is there and he just … kicks the ball into his own net. I guess there was just too much power on it and the PAOK player was unable to control it but still, very comical. GOAL! Arsenal 4-1 Bolton (Sterling 64) Saka seemingly gets the better of the entire Bolton team and their bench on the right hand side before a straight cross in. It is deflected to Sterling, who opens his Arsenal account with an easy finish. GOAL! Liverpool 2-1 West Ham (Jota 49) Some groans ring out as Jones holds on to the ball for a touch to long but those fans swallow the noise as he does well to get through the white shirts. His touch through the legs of Kilman is perfect and it finds Jota. And from there, it is obvious that the Portuguese would not miss from close range. Let’s get to some more emails before the rest of the games restart. Kári is relishing the new Europa League format: When I was a kid, the Cup Winner’s Cup was the best bet for exciting European upsets, and I hope the new Europa League, with no Champions League castoffs any more, will carry that tradition forward. That odds-on favourites Porto lost to a team from north of the Arctic Circle gives me hope that will be the case. I agree! Think it is a chance for some sides to create some great European history for themselves. Tim shows his old age (his words not mine!) How long have Bolton’s shirt sponsors been around? Pretty sure they were responsible for my university digs back in 1982-83! It had nothing to do with the eight tenants and one bathroom, of course. Would love to know how many people have seen Bolton’s shirts and gone: “That has convinced me. Victorian Plumbing it is.” Billy wants to set the record straight: Can we put paid the myth that Allardyce’s was Arsenal’s bogey opponent? He lost 20 times to Arsène Wenger! All for the narrative, isn’t it? GOAL! Arsenal 3-1 Bolton (Collins 53) One minute you’re on the ropes and the next you’re scoring. From an Arsenal corner, Bolton break and Collins races through, easily having the legs on Jorginho. He takes his time to round Porter, and is able to make the space for himself to score into an open net. I am very confused as to why Jorginho is the last man on a counter, but I digress. Bolton celebrate mildly and gesture to the away support to make their voices heard. GOAL! Arsenal 3-0 Bolton (Nwaneri 49) Moments after the start of the second half, Botlon play out from the back … and fail to bypass Arsenal’s press. So sloppy as Rice picks up the ball and lays it off to Nwaneri who is through on goal. It is not a great finish but the ball rolls under the keeper and into the net. The visitors played right into the hands of Arteta’s men there. Half-time scores Carabao Cup Arsenal 2-0 Bolton Liverpool 1-1 West Ham Europa League Dynamo Kyiv 0-3 Lazio Midtjylland 1-0 Hoffenheim Galatasaray 0-0 PAOK Ludogorets 0-1 Slavia Praha Nice 1-1 Real Sociedad Anderlecht 0-0 Ferencvaros Manchester United 1-0 Twente You can follow the happenings at Old Trafford with Rob Smyth. GOAL! Nice 1-1 Real Sociedad (Rosario 45) A well-worked goal at the Allianz Riviera! Nice get some short passes through to the box despite the abundance of yellow shirts and Rosario quickly spots the opening and hits a low drive to equalise. GOAL! Midtjylland 1-0 Hoffenheim (Osorio 42) Fantastic finish! Andersson, near the halfway line, finds Osorio on the right. From about 30 yards out, the Chilean cuts back and rips one in at the far post. GOAL! Ludogorets 0-1 Slavia Praha (Jurasek 37) The visitors counter and the ball finds on the right. The angle is tight but he takes a spinning shot, with the ball hitting the roof of the net on it’s way in. Great finish! GOAL! Dynamo Kyiv 0-3 Lazio (Dia 35) Lazio running riot! Dele-Bashiru crosses it into the box and Dia, who is somehow left completely unmarked, heads the Italian side’s third. GOAL! Dynamo Kyiv 0-2 Lazio (Dele-Bashiru 33) Lovely finish from Dele-Bashiru, who shrugs off Tymchyk as he speeds ahead and lifts the ball over Bushchan into the top corner. Half-time: Arsenal 2-0 Bolton Arsenal end the half with a clever free-kick but they can’t find the target. The whistle blows and Arsenal are halfway done with the job after finishes from Rice and Nwaneri. Liverpool 1-1 West Ham: All Slot’s side now! Bradley crosses it across the box to Gakpo, who takes a shot that creeps just wide at the far post. Liverpool 1-1 West Ham: Ooooh! Gakpo is shoved a couple times while on the ball and on the last one he slides into the penalty box. The home side think they deserve a penalty, but again, no VAR. The referee calls for advantage and play carries on. GOAL! Liverpool 1-1 West Ham (Jota 25) A quick response! Gakpo gets the ball on the left and he waits until the red shirts come flying forward. He picks out Chiesa who attempts a sideways bicycle kick. His attempt finds a leaping Jota, who does what he does best, and heads home. GOAL! Arsenal 2-0 Bolton (Nwaneri 37) Arsenal speed on to the attack and Sterling’s perfect low cross finds the teenager, who hits home his first goal for the Gunners. The home side are in cruise control. GOAL! Liverpool 0-1 West Ham (Quansah 21 og) What a mess! From a West Ham corner, Liverpool enter panic mode as they try to clear the ball. Cresswell does well to keep it alive and when Endo tries to clear the ball hits the 21-year-old Quansah and pings into the net. Liverpool 0-0 West Ham: West Ham have the ball in the back of the net through Ings but the flag goes up. No VAR here so play continues. GOAL! Nice 0-1 Real Sociedad (Barrenetxea 18) Fantastic attack from the Spanish side. The break away and Méndez finds Barrenetxea in acres of space, who takes a first time shot that fires into the top right corner Arsenal 1-0 Bolton: From a corner, McAtee gets a shot off from the middle of the box but he is leaning back and it goes well over the bar. From the replay you can see that his own teammate, Forino, is blocking his vision as well, which does not help. Good defending, but for the wrong team! Liverpool 0-0 West Ham: Close for West Ham! After a foul from Endo, the Hammers take a free-kick and Todibo’s header is wide at the far post. Bowen then follows up with an effort moments later but Kelleher takes care of it. Liverpool 0-0 West Ham: The visitors are deploying the tactic that Forest did when they beat Slot’s side at Anfield and so far it is working. A long ball comes in but it is too long for Gakpo and it goes out for a goal kick. GOAL! Dynamo Kyiv 0-1 Lazio (Dia 4) Awful defending from the home side. The ball pings around in the box but it is a flurry of yellow shirts that get on the end of each pass and the Senegalese surges forward, gets the ball on his right and nets a low goal past Bushchan. GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 Bolton (Rice 16) Bolton had to have known that Arsenal will punish any mistakes. Arfield completely misses the ball and it falls to Rice, who takes a touch before striking low past Southwood. Kick-offs in the Europa League Dynamo Kyiv 0-0 Lazio Midtjylland 0-0 Hoffenheim Galatasaray 0-0 PAOK Ludogorets 0-0 Slavia Praha Nice 0-0 Real Sociedad Anderlecht 0-0 Ferencvaros Kick-off: Liverpool 0-0- West Ham We are off and running at Anfield. Liverpool in all red and West Ham, who get us started, in white and maroon. 10 min: Sterling tries to dribble through a myriad of green shirts but just when he gets through them all, he takes a touch too heavy and Southwood collects. 8 min: Sterling crosses it across to Saka who tees it up to Jesus, who does well to beat three defenders to the ball. He chests the ball down but is unable to get his shot on target. 4 min: Bolton win the ball high up as Arfield and McAtee link up well. The latter loses control of the ball and back-heels it but his teammate hits it over the bar. 3 min: Arsenal surging forward, and patiently bass it around Bolton’s low block. Sterling surges forward with the ball. He thinks he has won a corner but the referee gestures otherwise. Kick-off: Arsenal 0-0 Bolton The whistle blows and Bolton start us off in their dark green kits against Arsenal’s classic red and white. Our first evening match is under way at the Emirates Stadium! Early Europa League results: AZ Alkmaar 3-2 IF Elfsborg Bodø/Glimt 3-2 Porto Mikel Arteta speaks before the match on starting Porter, the 16-year-old: He is a great character. It is a big jump for him but what an experience. On the mix of senior players and youngsters in the XI: I want them to show what they show every day in training. The youngsters are surrounded by many experienced players. They have been waiting for it. You could see it on the smiles on their face yesterday when I told them. On Sterling: He is making the right steps. He is a really good physical condition. He has been waiting to start. On Bolton: I heard they have 4,000 supporters here tonight. Very special night for them and it will be a tough match. Some early emails already! Anthony laments an Arteta choice: Why, oh why risk Saka? Marcus wants his side to roll back the years: I am confident that Bolton can emulate the class of 1994 against this Arsenal side. Not to jinx it but surely they can get the better of a 16-year-old keeper. Sumaya: Big test for Julen Lopetegui. Yes, he has made changes but these are still experienced players. So far, this new era for West Ham has not impressed me. Hoping we have not just hired Moyes 2.0! COYI Carter: Don’t care what anyone says, I love the Europa League. Nice v Real Sociedad is my pick for the best match tonight. The Europa League has increased to 36 teams and the format is significantly different. Ryan Benson has powered up the Opta supercomputer, which tells us that Porto are favourites (no mind that they are losing at the moment), Manchester United are sixth favourites because of how they tend to blow hot and cold and José Mourinho’s Fenerbahce is an outsider. Geek out on what else the supercomputer has to say below. Bolton may have slipped down the English pyramid, but back when they were in the top-flight, they used to be a bit of a bogey team for Arsenal. Stelios Giannakopoulos and Justin Hoyte share their memories of how Big Sam liked to spoil the Arsène Wenger party in the league. That being said, they do have some fine moments against the Gunners in cup competitions as well. The nine matches taking place in the Europa League today. Two of them are already under way. AZ Alkmaar are tied 2-2 with IF Elfsborg and Bodø/Glimt are leading Porto 3-1 despite playing with 10 men. The rest will kick-off at 8pm BST. You can stay up to date with Manchester United v Twente alongside Rob Smyth in his minute-by-minute. Team news: Liverpool v West Ham Liverpool XI: Kelleher, Bradley, Gomez, Quansah, Tsimikas, Endo, Jones, Chiesa, Gakpo, Jota; Núñez. Chiesa starts for the first time since signing from Juventus in the summer. Núñez is given his second start in a row up front after scoring for the first time since March at the weekend. West Ham XI: Fabianski, Coufal, Todibo, Kilman, Cresswell, Soucek, Álvarez, Soler, Bowen, Ings, Summerville The Hammers have had a sluggish start to the season and will hope that tonight can be a turning point. Ings gets the nod against his former side alongside Bowen and Summerville, who both started on the weekend. Referee: Andy Madley Team news: Arsenal v Bolton Arsenal XI: Porter, Nichols, Kiwior, Calafiori, Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri, Jorginho, Rice, Saka, Jesus, Sterling Porter is Arsenal’s 16-year-old fourth choice keeper, who gets the nod, making him the youngest goalkeeper to start in Arsenal’s history. Bolton XI: Southwood, Dacres-Cogley, Forino, Santos, Toal, Williams, Sheehan, Dempsey, Arfield, McAtee, Collins Quite a few changes from the side’s 5-2 win against Reading, which moved them up to 19th in League One.
