Saudi and Iranian foreign ministers discuss regional developments in Riyadh

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed regional developments with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi at the ministry"s headquarters in Riyadh on Wednesday. During their meeting, the foreign ministers reviewed bilateral relations and ways to further enhance them in various fields. They discussed developments in the region and the efforts made to address them. Prince Faisal hosted a luncheon in honor of the Iranian foreign minister and his accompanying delegation. The reception was attended by Undersecretary of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Ambassador Saud Al-Sati; Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Prince Musab Al-Farhan; Saudi Ambassador to Iran Abdullah Al-Anzi, and Advisor to Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed Al-Yahya. Araqchi arrived in Riyadh as part of his regional tour that would also take him to other countries in the region. His talks with the regional leaders would focus on regional issues and the need to exert efforts to stop Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, according to the Iranian state news agency ISNA. "Our dialogue continues in regards to the developments in the region to prevent the shameless crimes of the Israel in Lebanon in continuation of the crimes in Gaza. Starting today, I"ll start a trip to the region, to Riyadh and other capitals in the region and we will strive to have a collective movement from the countries of the region to stop the brutal attacks in Lebanon," the news agency reported quoting Araqchi as saying. Foreign ministers from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and Iran discussed the latest developments in the region and the need to work for de-escalation of the regional tensions, during their recent meeting held in Doha, Qatar.
