The Ministry of Health has revealed that 55% of breast cancer cases in Saudi Arabia are detected at advanced stages, significantly lowering recovery chances. The ministry emphasized the importance of early screening for prevention, noting that 80% of breast tumors are benign. Early detection is critical, the ministry stated, as it can lead to a recovery rate of over 95%. Early diagnosis and timely treatment greatly enhance the quality of life for patients and help reduce mortality rates. The ministry also underscored the need for regular breast health screenings, pointing out that breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women both globally and locally. To reduce the risk of breast cancer, the ministry recommends maintaining a healthy diet, engaging in physical activity, managing weight, breastfeeding, avoiding long-term use of birth control pills without medical advice, abstaining from tobacco, and following hormone therapy under medical supervision.
